Security & Privacy

Short and honest: here's how protection works in Help, and what gets stored.

How Help works

  • "I help" — You create a link or code and send it to the person you want to help. Once they open the Help-Agent and connect, you see their screen right in your browser - no installation on your side.
  • "Help me" — You download the Help-Agent and start it - no installing, no account needed. It shows you a code or link, which you give to the person helping you. Once they connect, they see your screen.

How secure is a session?

  • One-time, random links — Every link works exactly once and expires automatically after a short time. An old link can't be reused.
  • Consent is required — Help-Agent always asks first before anything is transmitted. Nothing happens automatically in the background without a click on "Connect".
  • Remote control is handled separately — Watching the screen and controlling mouse/keyboard are two separate permissions. Remote control must be explicitly allowed and can be instantly revoked with a single click at any time.
  • No login for the person who needs help — "Help me" works without an account and without logging in - on purpose, so nobody has to create an account first just to get help.

What gets stored?

  • Without logging in — Nothing about the session is stored beyond what's technically needed for the brief connection itself - that disappears once the session ends.
  • Logged in (optional) — Logging in also gives you your own history: date, an optional name you typed in yourself, which device connected, and how long. Visible only to your own account, and you can delete it yourself at any time.
  • Login data — Login goes through Google or Microsoft. We only store your name, email address, and an account id from the provider - never a password, we never see it.

What does the Help-Agent do - and what doesn't it do?

  • Just a download, no installation — You download a single file and run it directly - nothing gets installed and no background service is set up. Close the window and the connection ends immediately, completely.
  • Does nothing on its own — Nothing is transmitted until a connection is actually established. No automatic scanning, no reading anything in the background, no data collection.
  • No lasting access — Once the session ends, there is no connection left at all. Only the screen image is transmitted, and only for as long as the session is actually active.
